Answer:- As a manager it is important to ensure that workers behaviour with each other and manager is good to build an effective and positive relationship, which in turn assists the staff in achieving overall objectives of the organisation. So manager is required to play an important role in organisation by establishing following practices:-
Build trust, confidence and respect of diverse groups and
individuals:-Trust is all about trying to build a strong relationship. So a leader needs to establish ways of showing his integrity and commitment to staff, as a result the staff will develop a trust in managers decisions. Thus the trust can be built through
Positive role modelling
Making decisions that are transparent and logical Being clear about what manager wants to achieve and informing all staff about that Effective communication and consultation.
To be a role model, the manager must have sound decision making
skills, once the decision is made it must be firm. Team members must understand that the manager is concerned about problems at work, so the team members develop a sense of responsibility towards their job and a sense of respect and trust for the manager. In addition to this, manager has to maintain an open communication with the staff by always listening to their problems and concerns ,treating them as they should partners in your organisation, and allow the employees to provide input into how the things are done.It is also important to consult your employees when making important decisions and allow the employees to feel empowered in their work by giving them more responsibility. Staff should be awarded for any work in their team that promotes open and honest communication. Once an open communication environment is set up ,the next important things to establish important communication channels. The communication channels within the organisation and between the staff and manager can be of two types depending upon the types of information being passed:-
Informal channel:-This involves the networks that are set up by
individuals within the organisation .To exemplify this ,manager just wants to call the leader of the team to discuss the matter rather than following the set communication procedures Formal channel:-This channel is aligned to the various groups in the organisation. For example it may be aligned to people or processes-communicating from department to department or communicating to upper management or lower management.
