INTRODUCTION:
Systems, modeling, general systems theory, concept of
simulation, simulation as a decision making tool, types of
simulation.
UNIT II
RANDOM NUMBERS:
Methods of generating random numbers, Pseudo random
numbers and random variates, discrete and continuous random
probability distributions, tests for random numbers.
UNIT III
DESIGN OF SIMULATION:
Problem formulation, data collection and reduction, time flow
mechanism, key variables, logic flow chart, starting condition, run
size, experimental design consideration, output analysis and
interpretation, validation.
UNIT IV
SIMULATION SOFTWARE:
Study and selection of simulation languages, Use of simulation
software such as GPSS, Extend,Matlab, Simulink, LabView etc.,
for simulation.
UNIT V
CASE STUDIES IN SIMULATION:
Development of simulation models for queuing systems,
production systems, inventory systems, Industrial scheduling
problems
