Community Involvement

Community service does not have just one single meaning, it has many. Community
service means something different to every person in the world. To me, community service
means helping not only your community, but also your school, town, and country. It means to be
kind and caring to others, to help out those who are less fortunate than you. Community service
is when you take time out of your life to do something that will better other people not only
physically, but also mentally, and in addition will improve your surroundings.

A person encounters community service everyday of their life. A simple act of cleaning
the environment is one way to show community involvement which means that it starts in one
person and his motivation to do so. I, as a part of the community, would like to give back what
nature have given us, by cleaning its surroundings and maintaining its beauty. The things that I
do to achieve that are as follows, I make sure that I place my trash into the right place and pick
up those litters that were not properly thrown away. I reuse and recycle in order to reduce waste.
I turn off the lights and other electronics when not using to save energy. And sometimes, I do
give my unused clothes to the less fortunate.

All these simple things that I do, I teach them to younger generations, e.g. my younger
sibling, cousins and neighbours, in order to keep our environment clean and green. I also
encourage my friends, family and other relatives to do the same. Our environment and its nature
is a wonderful gift, that is why we must all take care of our community and never should we take
it for granted.
