Chapter 1

-type of communication where a speaker analyzes the audience to determine the
content, language usage and listener expectations.

-Standards of behavior that are expected, accepted and tolerated. Society drives
its ethical values from its culture, religion or even laws.

-specific items that can distort or prevent communication within an organization
4-Corporate culture communication model
-refers to the beliefs and behaviors that determine how a company's employees
and management interact and handle outside business transactions

-group or organization that has interest or concern in an organization

-similarities and differences among employees in terms of age, cultural

1-direct approach
-when the audience will be neutral or positive about your message. mandates
that you leads off with a summary of your key findings, conclusions, and
recommendations
2-general purpose
-the goal the speaker wishes to accomplish with his speech.
3-indirect approach
-the evidence is presented first, leading therefore to the main idea. this is the
inductive argument.
4-journalistic approach
-the activity of gathering, assessing, creating, and presenting news and
information.
5-medium
-the thing by which or through which something is done
6-scope
-the normal functioning area of this subject
Chapter 15
1-applicant tracking system resume
-is a software application that enables the electronic handing or recruitment
needs
2-chronological resume networking
-contains an objetive and/or career summary statement and chronological listing
3-combination resume
-combination the two types of resume, firs the functional resume
4-functional resume
-highlight your abilities, such a hiring, managing or coaching

Chapter 16
1-applicant letter interview
-is a formally written one page letter that accompanies a resume and other
request documentation in application for a job or academic program
2-behavioral interview
-technique whereby the applicant is asked to describe past behavior in order to
determine whether she is suitable for a position
3-employment interview
-conversation between a job applicant and a representative of an employer wich
is conducted to assess whether the applicant should be hired.
4-open-ended interview
-is a way to gathering information from people. an interviewer ask questions of a
participant, who then answer those questions.
5-situational structure
-person or thing in regards to surroundings or circumstances.
