SOUTHPAW SURPLUS
The Nationals, who have faced just 15 left-handed starting pitchers this season, are in the
midst of a stretch in which theyre facing four consecutive lefty starters, starting Sunday in San
Diego...As a team, the Nationals are batting .269 against left-handed pitching this season, and
their 25 home runs off southpaws are tied for the third-most in the National League.
Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy picked up his National League-best 29th multi-hit game of the
season on Friday night with a double and a home run off SDP LHP Christian Friedrich...
The home run was Murphys 12th of the year, but it was his first against a left-handed
pitcher this season...Against left-handed pitching in 2016, Murphy is hitting .329.
Murphy leads MLB in batting average (.356)...He leads the NL and ranks among MLB hitters in multi-hit games (T3rd, 29), OPS (2nd, .987), and hits (3rd, 93) while his .397 on-base

PUT THESE GUYS ON YOUR BALLOT
The next round of NL All-Star balloting updates arent expected until Wednesday, but, in addition to Daniel Murphys case above, a few other Nationals are worthy of consideration:

League catchers in average (.333), on-base percentage (.380), slugging percentage (.549)
and fewest strikeouts (28)...Ramos also leads MLB catchers with 38 RBI and his 11 home
runs are T2nd behind KCRs Salvador Perez...After hitting .229 in 2015, Ramos is the only
player in MLB to have increased his average at least 100 points from last year to this year
(min. 100 PA in 2016 / 500PA in 2015), per Elias.
RF Bryce Harper was second among all NL outfielders in voting as of the most recent update (June 15) with 1,451,270 fan votes to date...Harper, the 2015 National League MVP, is
