goal of this activity is for you to be able to safely use the
space around you to engage in a physical activity while
learning a helpful way to do your spelling word review.
This activity will help bring a kinesthetic identification to
parts of words to help you remember how to spell them.

Set Induction: Who can remind me what letters are

vowels?
Wait for answer, or call on someone if necessary
Learnable Piece: Words are made up of consonants
and vowels. One way that we can remember how to
spell the words on our spelling list is to use different
body movements for consonants and vowels while we
spell our words out loud together.
Presentation of New Material/Directions: Whenever
we have a consonant, we are going to do one squat
Demonstrate
Everyone does a squat with me
Whenever we have a vowel, we are going to do one
jumping jack
Demonstrate (with clap at the top)
Everyone does one with me
We will spell the word correctly together. Say the
consonant letter name when your knees bend to 90
degrees in the squat and say the vowel letter name
when your hands make the clap at the top of the jumping

jack.
