An-Nur child care centre dont provide food for the children.

The children bring their own

food for lunch. For morning tea and afternoon tea we use fruit and crackers which children
share. Parents supposed to put one piece of any fruit everyday in the fruit basket and a
packet of crackers for a week to share with other children. Qais you have been observing this
routine very carefully. Now you are so confident about our routines and rules that you will
speak up if some things wasnt done correctly. I have been observing you for a while and
noticed that every day when you open your lunch box to have lunch you will pick a fruit up
and say , Teacher Rosy, this one for sharing, this should go in the fruit basket. How nice,
Qais! I am so impressed. You also started to understand that its better to eat healthy food,
sometimes when your parents forget and put unhealthy food in your lunch box you would
say, for instance This chocolate should not be in the lunch box.
I have also noticed that often you check the other childrens lunch boxes who sits beside you
and if you see some fruit in their lunch boxes you would asked, Is that fruit for sharing? And
if you noticed any unhealthy food in their lunch boxes you would say, You should not have
that.

This indicates that you are

learning to do the right thing
and you are making sure that
other children do the right
thing too. Qais we are so
pleased to see that within a
very short time in your An-Nur
life you are developing
confidence and independence.
You started to understand
positive attitude towards
eating healthy food, you also
building up self esteem and
good relationships with your
friends.

Te Whariki our early childhood curriculum points out in Wellbeing, goal 1, Children
will experience an environment in which their health is promoted.
