Traffic Lights Tag
Two children are the red
lights (if possible have them
hold (beanbag) or wear
(wristband or pinnie)
something red). They are
the taggers and try to tag
the other children. If tagged
student must stop/freeze.
Two other students are
green lights (try to identify
them with something
green). They run around
and try to unfreeze the

Scattered in personal
space.

Heads upwatch where

you are going.
Students who are stopped
(tagged), wave your arms
in the air so the green lights
can easily see you and run
over to free you!

frozen streetlights (those

tagged by the red taggers).
Once tapped by a green
light, students re-join the

Skill Development

Partners, sitting facing each

other, legs making a V with
feet almost touching
(making a cage for the ball
to stay inside)

Partners scattered with one

medium sized ball per pair.

Roll: hands behind the ball,

fingers pointing down, push
the ball towards partner.
Catch: fingers point to the
ball, reach forward towards
the ball and catch with
fingers and hands.

Roll (or push) the ball to

your partnerpartner
catches the ball and rolls it
back.

Encourage students to
roll/push from behind the
ball as opposed to on top
of the ball.

Can you get the ball to go

straight to your partner?
(ball does not touch
anyones legs before it gets
to your partner)

As above.

As above.

If you can roll the ball to

your partner in a straight
line 5x in a row, move back
slightly. Your feet will be
apart now and there will be
a hole in the cage the ball
can escape if it does not go
straight.

As above

As above.

Each time you roll it straight

to each other 4x in a row,
you can move back a little
bit.
Skill Application

As you back up, you may

have to push the ball a little
harder to make sure it gets
to your partner.

Pair up with another group

(so groups of 4). Sit in a
circle/square with your legs
in a V feet touching.
2 balls per group of 4.
S1 and S3 roll the ball back
and forth while S4 and S2
do the same thing.
1st game: roll the balls so
they do not touch when
they pass in the middle.
How many times in a row
can you roll the ball back
and forth without the balls
touching?

As above.
S1
S4

S2

Watch the balls think

about when the best time to
roll your ball would be.

S3

S1=student 1, S2=student
2, etc.

2nd game: S1 and S3 roll

the ball back and forth. S4
and S3 try to time their roll
so it collides or knocks out
the other ball.
If some groups need a
challenge, space them
farther apart.
Closure / Review
When rolling a ball, where should our hands be? (behind the ball)
What about our fingerswhat position should our fingers be in? (they should point
towards the floor or down)
When a ball is rolled to us, how do we catch the ball? (fingers point towards the ball,
reach, and catch with the fingers and hands)
