Hormone
Hormones are chemical substances secreted by endocrine
glands or ductless glands directly into the bloodstream.
The blood carries the hormones to all parts of the body and
affects organs sensitive to them.
2 types of hormones:
short lasting (ADH, insulin) and long lasting (sex hormone).
These hormones are then destroyed in the liver and excreted
by kidneys.
The endocrine system and the nervous system cooperate to
coordinate the body's activity.
