Line 5/51 of the indian vedas say,"Girls are supposed to be in the
custody of their father when they are children, women must be under the custody of their husband when married and under the custody of her son as widows. In no circumstances is she allowed to assert herself independently." The male ego has planted such lies into our subconscious; but it is time we fought back. Distinguished Principal, respected teachers and fellow friends, a warm good morning to you all. I, Sanju Suresh, of grade 11A would like to argue against the topic, "AFTER ALL IT'S A MAN'S WORLD" Im talking to you about the worst form of human rights violation, the third-largest organized crime. I am talking to you about women inequality." Let me make my stand much more clear by helping you visualize a situation in India. Imagine 15th August 1947 without women. Mahatma Gandhi once said, "India wouldn't have achieved independence for another century without women's active participation." On March 8, 2015, ads, books and magazine covers around New York City looked a bit empty. Where there were once womenon a Dove soap billboard, on HarperCollins books, on covers and among other placespictures had been replaced with white space and a URL reading Not-there.org. On the surface, this clever media stunt taught us that a world without women would be lacking of some serious talent. The ballets would be bare and tennis rackets would just be laying on the court at the US Open and Wimbelton. Since the 1960s, women's earnings have increased relative to men's overall. But women still make less than men, but dont
worry; that will improve.
Having entered my second decade on earth, I have noticed that the world has changed dramatically just in my lifetime. It is no longer a mans world, it is most definitely a womens world now. Not even with the possible exception of sports, almost all of our daily life is geared towards women. Stores, products, entertainment, food, hotels, culture most of it designed for female tastes. More women are in politics than ever. Women are at the top of major corporations in a big way. There are women CEOs in every kind of business imaginable well, everything and anything. The old complaint that women just cant get to the top of a company is not true anymore. Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook, once said,A truly equal world would be one where women ran half our countries and companies and men ran half our homes. The lesson should be that the futures of working-class men and women are intertwined--and depend on a common struggle for a better life. So, I would like to conclude my so far boring speech by reminding all the dominative men out there that,"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value." If this quote has changed your "dominative attitude", dont thank me, thank albert einstein.Afterall, its his quote....... THANK YOU Rebuttal: Well, What my fellow compitetors argued were worth hearing, but was void of reality. Guys, look around you. Let me establish my stand:When Mark Hurd, the head of HewlettPackard, was forced to resign in 2010, the company chose Chief Financial Officer Cathie Lesjak as interim CEO.A small number of women have made it to the top and now wield power in the worlds of business and politics where men once ruled alone. Hillary Clinton, for instance, was a successful attorney before she took her latest job as Secretary of State, one of the most powerful political positions in the world. Forty-five women made the Forbes 400 list of the richest this year.
