Have you been in an Asian country? What are the traditions and beliefs of
our fellow Asian countries that are familiar to you? Are they similar or different
from the traditions and beliefs that we have here in the Philippines?
Share your answers with your partner.
Communication- Its Components
Firm- up:
Matshu Basho was the most famous poet of the Edo period (1603-1868) in
Japan. He was known for his haiku which usually captured his experiences with
or the beauty of nature. Bashos haiku were so popular that his disciples compiled
and published them. Years later, the 20th century translation of his works to
English and other languages earned him the title Haiku poet par excellence in
the Western world. The selection that follows features six of Bashos more
prominent haiku.
