better understand the system, the processes, etc.

When the Founding Fathers came together to create the new government of the United States, they decided to establish 3 branches
of government to ensure that no one person or group would become to powerful. The three branches of government are the executive
branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch. Each branch is balanced by the powers of the other two branches. This
separation is described in the first three articles, or sections, of the Constitution.

Students will be working in groups of 3-4 today completing a WebQuest to gain an understanding of the three branches of
government of the United States. Students will be able to answer specific questions about the three branches of government.
Students will also view a variety of media resources to gain better knowledge of how the government functions. Each group will
present one of the branches using either PowerPoint or Prezi. Each presentation should include:TitleDescription of BranchFunctions
of BranchCurrent Leaders of BranchHow the branch uses checks and balances when functioning with other branchesWhich articles
give the branch its' powerPicturesVideo (optional)

Step 1Using the following website, click on the three branches of government worksheet and print it

watch the first video titled "Branches of Government" and the second video titled "Separation Powers and Checks and Balances
Crash Course." Using the videos as a reference, answer the questions on the worksheet to your best ability. Step 3After you
have completed the worksheet, use the following website to play the game "Branches of Government" to better understand each role

At the conclusion of this WebQuest you will be able to describe in detail the functions of each branch of government, including their
