Colonialism and Independence Movements Summative Project

Summative Assessment: You will have a choice of format for the summative
assessment. The assessment will be in the form either of an essay, poem, poster, song
(with printed lyrics), a cartoon, a digital collage (with written explanation) or a video. If
you have another idea, please discuss this with me.
Each summative submission must meet specific knowledge goals:
1. It must contain content-specific vocabulary.
2. Provide evidence of cause-and-effect.
3. It must contain evidence of the independence movements Political, Social and
Economic effects.
4. The product must have relevant historical name-dropping.
5. There must be a clearly identifiable beginning and ending as on a timeline.
A rubric will be provided.
Schedule:
Monday 3/23 through Monday 3/30: In-class collection of information.
Monday 3/30: You will begin working on your project.
Tuesday 3/31: Students assemble their information toward completion of the project.
Thursday 4/02: Students last day to work on their projects in class.
Friday 4/03: Presentation Day and peer review.
