SOCOTECOII Applies May 2010 Power Rates
For May 2010 billing, an increase of eighty five Residential Customers
centavos per kilowatt hour (P0.85/KWH) for District April ‘10 May ‘10

Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), got the
Malapatan,
big chunk of the increase (0.6729/KWH) while Malungon, Glan,
generation company National Power Kiamba, Maasim,
Corporation/PSALM (NPC‐PSALM) increased less Tupi
than one centavo per kilowatt hour.

As presented in the graph that follows,

generation company, NPC‐PSALM, comprised
38% of the total rates being charged, followed
by NGCP at 30%. Meanwhile, SOCOTECO II only
receives 13% while the remaining 18% goes to
system loss and government as taxes and
revenues. In as much as SOCOTECOII is the
power distributor in its franchise area, the bulk
of power rates goes to the generation and the
transmission companies.
SOCOTECO II, together with other Mindanao
electric cooperatives as spearheaded by
AMRECO, is asking for Energy Regulatory
Commission’s clarification on ancilliary charges
applied by NGCP, which caused the drastic
increase of rates since April 2010.
