4) For your first Shakespeare writing assignment, choose ONE of the

below topics.

A. Analyze the conversation between Puck and the fairy in II.i lines
1-59. Make a list of all the adjectives used to describe Puck and
all of the actions he is described as doing. Once you’ve
completed those lists, write a 1-1.5 page (typed, double-spaced)
analysis of what kind of character he is and why Shakespeare
would choose to introduce him in this way. Attach your lists to
the front of the essay.

B. All the characters in the play paint pictures with their words.
Choose a character from the play and find two or three separate
instances where this character uses imagery to express
him/herself. List these quotes on a separate sheet of paper (be
sure to cite properly). Attached to those quotes, write a 1-1.5
page analysis (typed, double-spaced) that explains these images
in contemporary English and analyzes what these images reveal
about the speaker’s character.
