City traffic wardens regularly stop

citizens to hitch rides to go from one
point to another. There is lack of any
transport facility provided by the
department to these wardens and
they have to manage getting to their
duties themselves. This situation
results frequently in them getting
late for duty.

Due to this, these traffic wardens are

resorting to misusing their authority.
They often stop motorcyclists
travelling solo, who are then required
to take the wardens to wherever they
want to go. The wardens also travel
in public transport free of cost to
traverse from one point to another.

This poses a serious security threat,

as in recent times suicide bombers
wearing police uniforms have taken
lifts from unsuspecting citizens to
deliver themselves to their targets.

The authorities have no real plans as

yet to introduce a transport facility
for these wardens.
