Immanuel and St.

Andrew CE Primary School

Year 6 Class Bulletin
Summer Term June 2010

Dear Parents / Carers,

We made it! I’m sure you all feel as proud and pleased of your children as I do for all their
hard work last term.
This last term in Year 6 for the children is shaping up to be a very exciting one! We shall of course
be staging a production at the end of the year (performance date Thursday 22nd July)-so be warned,
lots of singing around the house to look forward to!
I am also looking forward to teaching PSHCE and SRE (info on reverse), Literacy, Numeracy and to
taking the class swimming on Tuesday mornings. Mrs Irvine will be taking Outdoor PE and teaching
topic work on Monday afternoons and Mrs Hoare will continue with her literacy class and teaching
whole class RE on Tuesdays 2.30-3.30pm. We have already had a visit from Transport for London
informing the children on travel safety and we will also have Sport’s Day this term.
Please read the details below carefully and if you have any questions about this term please ask.

I look forward to making the children’s last term at Immanuel as fun packed and memorable as I can!
Vicky Walsh

PE

Monday afternoons Mrs Irvine will be taking outdoor PE where the children will
be practising athletic skills on Streatham Common. The children are allowed to go
home in their PE kits as they will not be needed again until the following Monday.

Starting next week, myself and Kenrick will be taking the

children swimming in Merton. We shall travel to the pool by
minibus. Please ensure the children have their swimming
costumes and towels on Tuesdays.

PSHCE

The theme for this half term’s work on developing children’s social, emotional and behavioural skills
will be ‘Changes.’ We will be looking at change and the feelings it sometimes leads to, as well as how
we can manage these and cope positively with changes in our lives.

As part of the theme we will be looking at changes that have happened in the children’s lives. Please do
let us know if there is anything you would like to discuss with the teacher before we undertake this
work, for example, if there is a change that your child has found upsetting that we should be sensitive
to. In Year 6, we shall be discussing in detail the move the children are facing to secondary schools.

I shall also be teaching SRE this term-details on reverse.
