MARY KANE TO HEADLINE “WOMEN FOR MOONEY” FUNDRAISER

Governor Ehrlich’s Running Mate to Address Mooney Supporters in Frederick Wednesday

FREDERICK, MD – Mary Kane will headline a fundraising event for Senator Alex X. Mooney on
Wednesday, July 14 at 6:00pm at Mexicali Cantina, located at 467 West Patrick Street in
Frederick. Kane and Governor Bob Ehrlich endorsed Senator Mooney in a video last week.

Kane, who served as Secretary of State during Governor Ehrlich’s first term, highlighted
legislation Senator Mooney sponsored in 2006, which established a database within the
Secretary of State’s office to protect victims of domestic violence. Her involvement ensured
passage after Democrats blocked the legislation during the previous three legislative sessions.

“It was a privilege to work with then-Secretary of State Mary Kane on the Maryland Safe At
Home Act,” Senator Mooney said. “I look forward to working with her again as Lieutenant
Governor, so we can tackle tough issues and create jobs that put Marylanders back to work.”

“We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Kane headline our event,” said Lala Suarez Mooney, who
organized Wednesday’s fundraiser with Dr. Lourdes Orta. “Her presence underscores Senator
Mooney’s dedication to standing up for issues that are important to women.”

The event includes a buffet-style sample of Mexican cuisine and Coca-Cola products. General
