Dan Black

Nat. of Know.

8 – 25 – 10

Why does Plato refer to “the world of sight” as a “prison-house”?

When you can see everything you cannot imagine, you must believe what is

told to you. If you do not then you will immediately be looked down upon by others.

But when you have no choice but imagine who can look down on you because you

literally can’t get out of the “darkness”. Once you can see everything you can’t do

anything else you can’t imagine how something is you must know it. You are

essentially trapped in a world of knowledge.
