ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the level of academic performance of regular


scheme and self finance scheme student of general nursing diploma
Programme in the school of nursing sir C J institute of psychiatry
Hyderabad.
Methods: Using a descriptive comparative study design. A total of 40
second year nursing students participated: 20 students in regular scheme and
20 students in self finance scheme of general nursing diploma Programme.
Data was collected through questionnaire and analyzed in statistical package
for social sciences (SPSS) 16.0 version.
Results: Results identified a significant difference between the academic
performance of regular scheme and self finance scheme nursing students
second year. Specific factors which were found significant included type of
school, time lapse, uncompleted of course, relationship among colleagues
and class test.
Conclusion: the study concluded that the academic performance of regular
scheme nursing students was better than the self finance scheme of nursing
student’s second year general nursing diploma Programme. These factors
should be considered in the admission and academic performance of general
nursing diploma Programme.
