Management Information System (MIS) - Sujala Mahiti

Sujala is a unique participatory watershed development project which is being implemented in five districts of
Karnataka state. This project adopts MIS for near real time project monitoring and effective implementation.
MIS: is an Information Technology (IT) enabled service which MIS / GIS Package Implementation at Local Level
helps in systematic data Collection, Compilation and Information
extraction. The database gets stored under a well structured Database Creation Database Update &
RDBMS for user defined Query, Analysis and Report generation. Data Flow Report Generation

Sujala Watershed Action Plan (SWAP) Preparation
Sujala Watershed Development project has a unique approach
for participatory action plan preparation and implementation.
The entire process of action plan preparation is facilitated by
District Watershed Development Office and NGOs through
various stages of training and capacity building for CBOs.
While preparing such a plan, socio-economic aspects, people’s
aspirations and natural resources prospects are kept in mind.
Sujala Watershed Action Plan
(SWAP) is a very important and
uniquely executed process which
needs participation of all stake-
holders and it addresses every individual farmer to arrive at an integrated action plan
for sustainable development. This process is facilitated by a bilingual software
package, which not only addresses systematic database creation but also provides
varieties of report generation possibilities for impact analysis. The package is named
as SuKriya – Sujala Kriyayojane”.

The package allows beneficiary-wise database creation

through well structured information on size class,
caste and location for any given activity at AG level.
This also categorises private land and common land
activities for fur ther analysis. The package has
resulted in significant time reduction while preparing
the action plan and has been successfully field tested
during SWAP preparation activity under the project.

SuKriya Nakshe
SWAP map preparation & monitoring using
Geographic Information System (GIS) tools
SuKriya package allows systematic database
creation on watershed development plan with
respect to private / common land / demon
stration. The GIS enabled solution depicts
information related to where, what and when on
the cadastral map in a user friendly manner.
SuKriya Nakshe allows about 150 different types
of activities to be depicted using unique symbols
at micro-watershed level thus helping SWAP map
preparation for implementation and monitoring.

Salient Features
Watershed interventions/activities are customised in the package in a user friendly manner with an option to
pick and drop symbols for SWAP map preparation. Package also supports monitoring of activity-wise
implementation through spatial depiction. One can also highlight private land / common land / demonstration
activity through toggle keys. The information with regard to status of different activities (initiated, in progress
and completed) can also be spatially depicted.

Nakshe Vivara
Resources map viewing and Querying using
Geographic Information System (GIS) tools
Nakshe Vivara is a GIS Map viewer tool which facilitates the display of
Resource maps with necessary legends. The resource maps like Land use
/cover map, soil resources map, slope map, Geo-hydro morphology map, Land
parcel map etc generated on micro watershed basis by KSRSAC can be viewed
and information could be extracted theme wise. The package also allows overlay
of user defined Resource map layers with specific query facility.
