1. Printhead Bank Mode Programming-XAAR Proton 382
STEP1: Install the R340 driver for USB cable, connect the cable and adapter
to the printhead which needs to be programmed, switch on the mainpower of
the printer. Then, click the start icon of the computer, enter All programs \
Accessories \ communication \ Hyper Terminal. (Show as screen shot)

STEP 2: Create one new connection, name it by 111,and then click OK

STEP 3: Go to Hardware\Device manager\Ports, check the USB-SERIAL
port number, write down and remember it.

STEP4: Select port number for Connect using, keep it as same as the port
number of the USB cable.

STEP 5: Enter the Hyper terminal, set up the port settings, select Bits per
second be 9600.

STEP 6: Choose Properties of Hyper terminal, and then click Settings
\ ASCII Setup, click and turn the first two options on. Show as picture

STEP 7 : Input the print head Bank Mode Checking code of "00FF0E", and
then press "Enter", if the system showed the code of "FF550400",then this
code means the Print head Bank Mode just is Dual Bank Mode ,it is
correct.

Caution: All XAAR Proton 382 print head

for Wit-Color printers use should be DUAL
BANK MODE ONLY!

If input the checking code of "00FF0E", and the system showed the
code of "FF550401", then this code means the print head is with Single
Bank Mode, so please change it to Dual Bank mode as following
instruction.

STEP 8 :Input the code of "00FF8E00", and then press "Enter", and then
click the button of "Disconnect" to reset up the print head, wait for 2 or 3
seconds. Then, input the code of "00FF0E" again for rechecking, if the
system showed the code of "FF550400", then this code means you had
modified the Bank Mode of the head correctly, if still showed the code of
"FF550401", please redo the above steps again.

Caution: Only when the system showed the code of "FF550400", it
means the print head is with Dual Bank Mode only,
if it is "FF550401", it will be Single Bank Mode.

 2. Pixel Mode and Cycle Mode Set up in Vform
Install the PH commander software first, then, open the PH commander
software, select the printhead type by XJ500, select the port same as the
USB-SERIAL port number, then click ok to enter the PH commander.

For ULTRA2000H4 H6 H8, the printhead Vform type is pixel mode, for
ULTRA2000H12 H16,the Vform type is cycle mode.

Vform type changing is only for Vform 0

3. Vtrim and Voltage

CAUTION: Vtrim value is in

Vtrim inverse proportion to Voltage
value.

Voltage

Vtrim Value will control the printhead voltage, if you want to increase
the head voltage,please decrease the vtrim value, if you want to
decrease the head voltage, increase the vtrim value.

4. General Voltage Adjustment
for XAAR Proton (35 PL)
Rated Voltage: 11-13 VOLT

Environment Suitable
Temperature Voltage

A > 25 ℃ 11-11.8 V

B < 25 ℃ 12 V

C < 10 ℃ About 13 V

CAUTION: To prevent printhead from damaging or burnout,

microscale adjustment for Vtrim Value only!

5. General Voltage Adjustment
for XAAR 600 (60 PL)
Rated Voltage: 14-16 VOLT

Environment Suitable
Temperature Voltage

A > 25 ℃ 14-15 V

B < 25 ℃ 15.5-15.6 V

C < 10 ℃ About 16 V

CAUTION: To prevent printhead from damaging or burnout,

microscale adjustment for Vtrim Value only!
