FNTO Circular Dated 3rd September, 2010.

Strike on 7th September, 2010

GS FNTO calls on Dr. Sanjiv Reddy, President, INTUC.

K. Vallinayagam GS FNTO called on Dr. Sanjiv Reddy, MP, President INTUC on
02.09.2010 at INTUC HQ NEW Delhi and discussed the strike situation.

President INTUC stated that the Industrial Strike on 7th September, 2010 is not
particularly against the Central Government, but against the wrong labour policies of
all State Governments and Central Governments as they have collectively failed to
check the price rise, particularly of essential commodities. Public Distribution System
(P.D.S.) is also weak, truncated and corrupt that the miseries of common man (Aam
Adami) have increased multifold.

The Governments are generally pro-MNCs/Big Business Houses which promotes

contract Labour System replacing regular establishment and these contract workers
are not paid on par with regular workers even in government departments and PSUs
and such type of exploitation is highly deplorable and to be checked at once.

Disinvestments and privatization policies of the Government are also to be opposed

tooth and nail as it does not serve the interest of people or nation. Proper social
security net should be in place for the workers and new Bonus Scheme requires
drastic modifications.

More than one round of discussion has been held between government and the leaders
of Central Labour Organizations but no crucial understanding is at sight so far,
President opined. Even while the talks continue, it is necessary that Indian Labour has
to register its strong protest against the policies of the government so as to expedite a
lasting settlement over the vital demands of the Indian Working Class. Hence INTUC
and other CTUs have called the Strike on 7th September, 2010. The strike should be
peaceful. While the organizers can seek the support of all, there should be no
cohesion.

In BSNL, FNTO, NFTE and BSNLEU have issued the strike notice. They may
consult each other in the field for conducting the strike effectively and peacefully.
Management may impose “no work no pay” provision. But workers should be
prepared to face the Wage cut in general interest.
