Knowledge Network unit.

support corporate learning offerings (e.g.

with Senate by year’s end.

Professor Mansour Javidan was appointed Dean of Research, head
of RKN and Garvin Distinguished Professor in Fall 2007.
Thunderbird research advisory council has been established.
Processes for measuring and monitoring research inputs and outputs
and communicating research productivity of the chair holders were
established. A process has been started to train research active
professors to better communicate their work to the public.
Short term goals are in place and include: how much and where
research funds are spent, center structures, focus on a strategic
project, and GMI funding identification, most of which have been
accomplished this year.
The development of the Global Mindset Inventory instrument was
financed through $80,000 of direct support from participating
organizations. Additional funding support for related Global
Mindset initiatives is being sought through philanthropic and
on
target
corporate sources. 
A second strategic research initiative, in the area of sustainability
and energy, has been established. A proposal was submitted to a
funding source in June.
The Global Mindset psychometric assessment tool was finalized in
February. Thunderbird colleagues, TGC, alumni, trustees and
students have completed the survey. A Global Mindset Day
celebration was held during graduation. A shorter, more refined
GMI instrument, developed using the latest data collections, was
completed in April, and the 360 version was completed in early
May.
A more effective mechanism for monitoring research productivity
has been developed. A template for assessing Thunderbird’s
investment in research has been completed. Thus far, faculty
members have submitted their research-related activities from
September 2006 through August 2007.
