Following last night's meeting with John Scarlett, and others,

there are a number of points we need to harden up on :

" What is the printer's deadline ?

" How many are we going to print ? If we give it to each MP
and peer, have enough for hacks, and to send around
embassies etc, we could be looking at 1500. Can the printers
cope with that many, and does it affect the deadline ?
" If we are going to have an Arabic version, at least of the
executive summary, in time for Tuesday, can d6lUdLbegin
work on the draft this evening and make any amendments as
we go ?
" Is there going to be a foreword by the PM ?
" We also need to finalise the Q & A material, and we should
have drafts from both the CIC and others by this evening .

A bullet point summary is being prepared which we can fax to
embassies at 7 .30 on Tuesday morning, with embassies being
told to take the full document off the website at 8 .00, but we
need to be sure that the site is robust enough to take the number
of hits it will get from them and others.

Personal letters, based on the bullet points, will be sent under

the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary's names to those they
have promised advance copies to .

And, finally, we need to think about what the DPM says when
he attends the ASEM event at the weekend.
