For children below the age of 6 years and Pregnant and nursing mothers. 2. GROWTH MONITORING Children below the age of 3 years are weighed once a month and children between 3 and 6years are weighed quarterly. Weight – for – age growth cards are maintained for children below 6 years. Severely malnourished children are given special supplementary feeding and are referred to medical services. 3. IMMUNIZATION For children below 6 years and pregnant and lactating mothers. 4. HEALTH CHECK UP For children below 6 years and pregnant and lactating mothers. Health services to be provided are: Regular health check up’s, recording of weight, immunisation, management of malnutrition, treatment of diarrhoea, de – worming, distribution of simple medicines, etc. These are to be provided by the Anganwadi worker’s and Primary Health Centres. 5. REFERRAL SERVICES The Anganwadi worker has to be oriented to detect disabilities in young children. She enlists all such cases in a special register and refers them to the medical officer of the Primary Health Centre. 6. NON – FORMAL PRE – SCHOOL EDUCATION This is to be conducted for 3 hours a day with a focus on total development of the child up to 6 years (for under privileged groups). 7. NUTRITION AND HEALTH EDUCATION Long term goal of capacity building of women within the age group of 15 – 45 years. 8. TEAM Anganwadi Worker, Anganwadi Helper, Child Development Project Officers (CDPO’s), District Programme Officer’s (DPO’s), Auxiliary Nurse midwife, MO’s, Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA). 9. TRAINING For the Anganwadi worker – Induction Training, Job / Orientation Training, Refresher Training.
