General: Two reinforced concrete tanks

Tank 1: An above ground water tank with a useable volume of 50,000L

Tank 2: A below ground cess tank with a useable volume of 50,000L.

Tank 1 (Water) 50,000L


i. Design the water tank. Base and walls to be reinforced concrete. Roof slab to be
reinforced concrete. The tank is to have a single chamber
ii. Manhole access through the roof and wall steps (internal), are required.
iii. High level inlet to be PN16 flange, 4 x bolt holes. Flange diameter 165mm, bolt
diameter M16.
iv. Low level outlet to be PN16 flange, 4 x bolt holes. Flange diameter 165mm, bolt
diameter M16.
v. An electronic float switch is to be fitted so that the adjacent well pump is switched on
at low water level.
vi. There is to be the facility for the tank to be filled through a cam lock fitted pipe in the
roof.
vii. Cast in water bar is to be used at all joints.

Tank 2 (Cess) 50,000L


i. Design the cess tank. Base and walls to be reinforced concrete. Roof slab to be
reinforced concrete. The tank is to have a single chamber.
ii. The tank will be buried. The upper level of the roof slab will be 2.0m below ground
level. No traffic will be allowed to travel across the ground surface.
iii. Manhole access through the roof and wall steps (internal), are required.
iv. High level inlet to be PN16 flange, 4 x bolt holes. Flange diameter 165mm, bolt
diameter M16.
v. The tank will be emptied by sucker truck. A discharge pipe with cam-lock is to
be fitted through the roof.
vi. A vent pipe is to be fitted.
