English Language Proficiency
Applicants with degrees/qualifications in a language other than English may need to
demonstrate English Language Proficiency through one of the following exam scores:
Tuition and Fees
• TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper-based) or a total score of 100 with a
score of at least 20 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based) • approximately $5,000 CAD per year (full-time Canadian/Permanent
Resident)
• MELAB: minimum score of 91
• approximately $8,650 CAD per year (full-time International student)
• IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band score of 7.5, with at least 6 on
each band
• CAEL: overall minimum score of 70, with at least 70 on each subtest Funding
• PTE (Academic): overall minimum score of 68 The University of Alberta does not guarantee funding and funding levels may vary. Please

Canadian / Permanent Resident


• $18,000 for MSc (teaching and/or research assistantship)
