The 14th, 15th and part of 16th century must have been a glorious
time for Europe, with the reformation of many old ideas and the
formation of many new. That said, one could only imagine what
life was like living with some of the great minds of the time; the
likes of Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Shakespeare, and many more.
The high standards of the time pushed humans to achieve
LIVELY greatness. “Imago Dei,” a term that has a large basis in the idea HAPPY
of humanism; meaning humans are created in God’s image, is
something that I believe today. The human spirit was exemplified
with attempts to glorify towns by financially supporting the creation
of great architectural masterpieces. Castiglione’s view of the ideal
man during that period being athletic and intelligent is a view of
the ideal man that I have. The Renaissance stood for openness to
all possibilities of life, for free expression and expansion of all
aspects of one’s life. These are true characteristics of an ideal

How did renaissance art differ from medieval art?


Renaissance art was much more secular or less religious. It used reference to
Christianity but it represented a more outward look of the world. Renaissance art was
more realistic and perspective was used which created a real sense of depth in the
painting.
What was Renaissance philosopher, Nicco Machiavelli, view on politics
during the Renaissance period?
Machiavelli advised rulers to be ruthless and use any means necessary in
achieving goals, and believed that the “end justifies the means.”
