VESSEL

b) The Boat Builder
c) The Department of Fisheries and
Aquatic Resources (DFAR) –
Regulatory Authority
– The Surveyor (DFAR representative)

OWNERS RESPONSIBILITIES

BUILDERS RESPONSIBILITIES
• Boat yard to be registered with DFAR
• Fulfil all statutory requirements
• Construct vessels to DFAR Requirements
and obtain DFAR Certificate for each vessel
• Each new vessel to be identified by unique
YARD NUMBER which is registered with
DFAR
• To arrange for survey and provide Surveyor
all facilities and access to carry out duties

SURVEYORS RESPONSIBILITIES
• Shall maintain high level of professional
and personal integrity
• All reports of survey to be documented
with copy to Builder
• All reports pertaining to particular Yard No.
to be submitted to DFAR for certification
• To carry out inspections from moulding of
hull and throughout construction of the
vessel for compliance with DFAR

DFAR CLASSIFICATION OF BUILDERS
1. Builder – New Construction
• Constructs hull and deck, outfits, carries out
trials and delivers vessel with “DFAR
Certificate – New Construction”
2. Builder – Hull and Deck
• Constructs only hull and deck and delivers
vessel with “DFAR Certificate – Hull and Deck”
3. Builder – Outfitting
• Carries out outfitting and trials and delivers
vessel with “DFAR Certificate – New
Construction”
