November is a great time to read fiction as well as non-
fiction literature. We will continue to apply our reading
strategies while reading many November-appropriate
books! While reading with your child at home, observe
the strategies they practice. When coming to a tricky
word, are they looking at the picture, getting their mouth
ready, thinking about what would make sense, looking for
chunks, and going back to re-read? If not, these are the

after a long day of school and work! Take these ideas and practice
the words in a fun, engaging way! Magnetic letters, newspapers with
highlighters, Playdoh, shaving cream, word scramble, sand, Beat the Parent!
