Dear Parents,

It is with much regret that we must inform you that Holly Hain, a beloved physical education teacher
and coach of our District, tragically lost her life Saturday evening in an automobile accident. Our
thoughts and prayers go to Holly’s family and friends.

Since Mrs. Hain is a very important part of the Campbell-Savona family we want to support our staff and
students through this tragedy. We have implemented our school’s Crisis Response Plan in an effort to
provide an appropriate response to the situation. This plan is designed to provide assistance to our
students, staff and their families at this time of need. Counselors will be available in both school settings
to assist the Campbell –Savona Community through this time of grief.

It’s important to understand that students and staff will react in different ways to a tragedy of this
nature. If you feel your child is in need of special assistance or is having a great deal of difficulty coping
with this tragedy, please do not hesitate to call the school at 527-9800, extension 3170 for the
elementary and extension 2440 for the high school.

Thank you for your support of our school system as we work together to cope with Mrs. Hain’s death.
Please observe your child closely over the next several days and weeks to watch for signs of distress
which may indicate a need for additional support. Suggestions as to how you can support your child
include: expect things to be different for some time, encourage expression of feelings, listen to your
child, provide factual information, share your own grief and be open and give choices about involvement
in death and mourning rituals. A handout that may help you when talking to your child about a tragedy
will be sent home with all students on Monday.

At this time, plans for a memorial service are incomplete. We will update you when more information is
available. Please feel free to call if you have any concerns or questions regarding your child or the steps
taken by the school to address this tragedy.

Sincerely,

Kathy Hagenbuch
Superintendent
