ANDRES BONIFACIO

Andres Bonifacio was born on November 30, 1863 to Santiago Bonifacio and Catalina de Castro
in Tondo in Manila.

Bonifacio’s early education started in the Guillermo Osmena School. But, unfortunately, his
parents died when he was 14 years old. This forced him to quit studies and look after his younger
brothers and sisters. He earned a living by selling paper fans and wooden canes in the streets.

Bonifacio was executed on May 10, 1897 in the mountains of Maragondon, Cavite.

• In his essay "What the Filipinos Should Know," Bonifacio believed that the Philippines should be
totally separated from Spain.

Political activities:

• Founder and leader of KKK -patterned its initiation rites after the Masonry, but its ideological
principles derived from the French Revolution
• Functions between Magdiwang and Magdalo became the first political intramurals in the struggle
power of politics in the country.

Moral legacies:

• The Katipuneros were taught to care for one another in times of sickness and need.

• If not of his bold and radical spirit, no revolution would mount in nearby provinces in the nation in
driving away the colonizers.

• Cry of Balintawak" or "Cry of Pugad Lawin”: start of the revolution by tearing their cedulas.
