What is the difference between Bigfoot, Sasquatch, the Abominable Snowman, and the Yeti?

Not much, according to reports. They are all thought to be large primates, however there are
some differences and different names of the popular ape-man cryptids known by the monikers
above.

All of these animals are popular cryptic creatures of legend (others being creatures like the
Mothman) because there have been reports of sightings throughout history, but the creature is
unaccepted by biology, placing it into the field of cryptozoology because of its unconfirmed and
unidentified status. Following are descriptions of the four ape-man cryptids.

Bigfoot – One of the Most Popular Ape-Man Cryptids

Bigfoot is a term used to describe this mythical creatures in much of America and Canada.
Bigfoot reportedly has large feet, evidenced by footprints, and he is between 6 to 10 feet tall,
brown or shaggy, and ape-like.

Bigfoot is bipedal, and has mostly been reported in the American Northwest, although accounts
of the creature have come from almost all parts of the United States and Canada. Bigfoot
sightings in America are regularly reported.

The Cryptid Called Sasquatch

Sasquatch is another name for Bigfoot, which derives from one of the many names given to the
creature by indigenous populations in the American Northwest and Western Canada.

Where the bigfoot name came from

They mostly got Bigfoot’s name from the 2-5 feet tracks his giant feet leave behind.

Sighting of bigfoot
First sighting by a white man occurred in 1811 by David Thompson.

Big foot

 Born: c. 1811
 Birthplace: North America
 Best Known As: Big, elusive humanoid beast of North America

Sightings of Bigfoot, also called Sasquatch, were first reported in parts of the United States and Canada
in the mid-19th century. Since then there have been hundreds of reports of a large, hairy hominid or
ape, with the distinguishing characteristic of a 16"-20" footprint. There have also been many obvious
forgeries and hoaxes, suppositions about UFOs or supernatural connections and no real clear answers.
Some suggest the beast is a relative of Gigantopithecus, an extinct primate of China. A famous home
movie from 1967 by Roger Patterson still stands as one of the most significant -- and controversial --
pieces of visual evidence.
Similar stories from around the world about giant and elusive ape-like humans include the Yeren of
China, the Yeti of the Himalaya mountains, the Yowie of Australia and the Mapinguari of South
America... In December 2002 Ray Wallace of Centralia, Washington died and his family claimed that Ray
started Bigfoot frenzy in 1958 when he left behind giant footprints (made with special shoes carved from
alder wood) near a logging site as a practical joke.
Although we don't have actual evidence that people have seen a big foot. I personally believe if we can't
find it while we are actually looking for it, it is probably not real.

The Patterson footage has been debated. No one brought the sasquatch costume to be seen and the
footage shows the muscular structure of the beast. All other costumes seen are fake. The beast in the
Patterson film does not wear a costume.
