QUALITY ASPECTS

To elaborate, conceptually, each unit of a product that is sold can be thought of as carrying with
it a "quantum" of quality message depending on the level of quality; the higher the quality level
of each unit in the market, the higher the contribution to the quality reputation or perceived
quality of the product.

So in dabbawala case to maintain the quality of product i.e. the food is the biggest challenge ,
because if customer doesn’t' get this value then the chances of dabbawala is very high, so to
assure the quality in dabbawala case in Pune I would suggest some key points here:

The association once a month should call a meeting of all the members. In this meeting it should
try to solve the internal quality performance problems of the organization.

1. In the case of loss of Tiffin Box of the Dabbawala, if he is found guilty, then the
Customer should be refunded the appropriate amount for the loss.

2. Each member is supposed to operate in his allocated area only & not interfere with any of his
fellow colleagues, work area.

3. In case if the customer is not pleased with dabbawala provided to he for service, both of them
cannot co-ordinate well with each other then the organization may shift that dabbawala to some
other area & replace other dabbawala in his area.

4. Every dabbawala should be reporting to duty on time and behave properly & respect the
customers.

5. The Dabbawalas are the whole & soul of the entire system of these operations. For these
Dabbawalas to be able to provide prompt & efficient service, it is very much important &
necessary to be always on time, so any Dabbawala shouldn’t be moving ahead road talking his
own sweet time. They should be in hurry pushing through the crowd carefully to deliver lunches
on time.
