Chicago's "Dream Team" of civil rights attorneys is seeking justice and damages in civil lawsuits against the Chicago Police Department related to two criminal cases involving young African American boys. The attorneys argue that detectives used illegal arrest, false evidence, and perjury against their clients. While the criminal charges were cleared, the attorneys are now asking for a special prosecutor to investigate possible police misconduct and other crimes in the ongoing cases, as well as actions against the two detectives. Reverend Jesse Jackson led a march against police brutality related to the cases, calling on officials to address excessive force and interrogation practices that can produce false confessions.
