LESSON 5: RECOGNISING JESUS

AIM: To stress that Jesus has power over all unsavory

situation of life.
LEARNING GOALS:
1. Describe the plight the Gadarenes demoniac
experienced & how Jesus restored him to wholeness.
2. Express a willingness to receive Jesus liberating healing.
3. Offer assistance to those who may be bound in some
ways or seek help if so bound.
MEMORY VERSE: Jesus …said to him, “Go home to your
friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for
you, and how He has had compassion on you” (Mk 5:19 NKJV)
INTRODUCTION: Finding healing and wholeness
Healing is solution to sickness, diseases, infirmities, etc . It
can be physical or spiritual. Basically, it is the sick that seeks
to be healed probably by visiting the physician. Today’s
lesson shows how healing & wholeness was sought and
found. The sick (demoniac) recognized & consulted the great
physician(Jesus) & was delivered.
1. NEED FOR DELIVERANCE: MK 5:1-5
The peculiarity of the man called for deliverance. He was
violent, possessed, living in the tomb, crying, cutting himself
with stones. It was one of the worse cases around. Not many
people would have expected something better from him,
families & friends would have left him, he could eat just
anything, humanly speaking, he was hopeless & helpless,
maybe he was not happy with his condition. Such a situation
needs deliverance. Any situation that does not glorify God is
in need of deliverance, do you have a situation that needs
deliverance?
 2. ACTION OF DELIVERANCE: MK 5:6-13
It is not enough to identify the needs alone, actions should be
taken. The man ran to Jesus when he saw him. Who do you
run to in your times of needs? If demons could recognize
Jesus to the extent of calling him by name, how much more
those who are in the church today? What step are you taking
to get out of your unpleasant circumstance? Here we saw him
delivered of the legion (about 6000). Your problems cannot
be up to 6000 if counted, so they are not beyond Jesus
healing power. Take them to God.
3. RESULTS OF DELIVERANCE :MK 5:18-20

His condition was changed from lonely, violent & crying man
to a happy man. The result of deliverance was a great
testimony, he was to go & tell others what the Lord has done.
He could tell people that Jesus heals. Can you tell others that
Jesus can do what he He has done for you?

SENTENCE SERMON: proclaim what Jesus has done for you.

MORAL LESSON FOR ADULT:

Let others see Jesus in you in all you do.
