1
One night, as I was half asleep, came a tapping sound.

2
It was December, and each day I waited for Lenore and her ghost. She was
beautiful, and would no longer be here.

3
The wind blew in, startling him. It is only a person, it couldn't be my dead Lenore.

4
With courage he addresses whoever has entered; saying he was busy napping.
When he opened the door no one was there.

5
I spoke "Lenore!" thinking it was her ghost at his door coming to visit me.

6
I heard the tapping sound again, this time noticing it from the window. It is
probably only the wind, nothing to be afraid of.

7
I opened the shutter and saw a Raven. With wisdom and certainty the Raven sat
above my chamber door.

8
The dark face turned me, turning my sad nature to a smiling one. The bird was
very stern and formal.

9
I am blessed with this bird, who I marvel over his weird appearance. And thankful
for it's company.

10
All the Raven reminded me of was of how Lenore would never more be here.

11
You have been caught by an unhappy person. Who no longer has hope and is in
constant sadness for 'never-nervermore' as I mourn for Lenore.

12
I store into the bird thinking of It's gloomy presence, and why it remind me of this
death.

13
The bird just sat staring back at me,as I thought.

14
The room took a different presence. God has sent it to forget my memories of
Lenore and overcome her death.

15
Prophet!.. thing of evil!…Tell me why you are here? " Quoth the raven,
Nevermore".

16
Lenore must be in the garden of Eden and heaven. She must be recognized and
one of the angels because of her radiant beauty.

17
Leave, raven. Don't leave any sign you were ever here, and don't make me feel
worse as you remind me.. "nevermore"

18
The raven remained sitting about my chamber door. And the light throws his
shadow on the floor. The shadow takes the shape of my soul… shall be lifted-
nevermore!
