RESOLUTION

WHEREAS: This organization known as the Amalgamated

Transit Union Local 241, whose objectives and principles
dictate that this union leadership and members support and
fight to protect our immediate working conditions we also
support the communities in which we live and our riding
public who depend on a viable public transit system for travel.

WHEREAS: This Local 241, our families and our communities

are again being held political hostage with threaten lay-offs,
fare increases, more service cuts, healthcare/pension reforms,
and longer and harsher contract concessions.

WHEREAS: We, the drivers of the Chicago Transit Authority

are often objectified by our passengers as “The CTA”, because
we are on the front line of the CTA we invariably face the
every day blame, frustrations and anger of some passengers.
We must create more rider/driver unity.

WHEREAS: This Local 241 promotes the active involvement

of this membership in protecting, fighting for and promoting
the betterment of the working class as a whole.

Resolve that: We, the members of Local 241, who diligently

sustain and maintain this transit system, along with our most
valuable allies; the riding public, demand a world class transit
system for all. We demand an immediate halt to all lay-offs,
service cuts, and fare hikes.

We additionally DEMAND that the CTA open the books and

ledgers of accountability to the public and this membership.
Whereby the public can inspect the books and the blame.
