Al’s Character Traits

”They think that their better than us.” This is a quote from the story “The Parsley Garden”. The main
character in this story is Al. Here are some of his traits.

One trait that can describe Al is that he is adventurous. One example is that in the beginning, he
observes the flowers in the garden. He also looks at the bug. Also when he is at a store he looks and
studies a hammer.

Dishonest is also one character trait that can describe Al. An example of this trait is that when he is
asked if he took anything from a store he says no when, of course, he did. Also when his mother asks him
if he was alright he lies and says he was alright.

One night, one of Al’s traits is shown. That trait is fearful. When he goes to sleep, he has a dream that
he is at the store and he steals a lot of hammers. He is surrounded by cops and he tries to hide. Then he
wakes up. Another example is when Al is in the manager’s office and is scared of what the manager is
going to do to him. Instead he lets Al go.

One last trait that describes Al is that he’s helpful. An example of this trait is when Al is working extra
hours for the store because he thinks that is the right thing to do since he stole. Also, he thinks of his
mother and makes a bench from the nails and wood he gathered. He builds it with his newly earned
hammer.

In conclusion the traits that express Al are observant, dishonest, fearful, and helpful. In my opinion, I
would like to be around Al because he seems like he is a good kid and seems like he could be trusted
sometimes.
