QUESTIONNAIRE FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR

A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

1) state the objective of the project ( e.g. a residential building, commercial building,
residential and commercial building, lodging)
2) location of the project ( plot no, plot size, estate, town, county)
3) What building materials will be used (e.g. coral blocks, timber, metal, iron sheets,
etc)?
4) the name and distance of the nearest road, highway, airport, river, ocean
5) estimated cost of project (land cost, construction cost)
6) within a 10KM radius please describe
i) the general topography
ii) any tree cover and the dominant species
iii) any wildlife or domestic animals
iv) is the area flood prone
v) the existing land use in terms of
(a) agriculture activities
(b) commercial activities
(c) any industries
(d) any forests
(e) human settlements
(f) any water bodies
(g) transport systems

ii) What are the predominant activities in the area (residential, institutional, and
commercial)?
iii) are there special features in terms of: tourist spots, monuments,
archaeological sites, hospitals, schools, institutions, religious places, heritage
areas
iv) the human resources in the area in terms of population of area (10 Km radius),
socio economic conditions, diseases prevalence (e.g. HIV, Malaria, TB, etc)
6) What is the source of water supply for the project during construction and during the
operations?
7) Any water harvesting plans?
8) Any water storage within the building, capacity?
9) What is the mode of sewage disposal? if septic tank, soak pit, biological treatment
please give the capacity and whether there is a NEMA licensed exhauster for ultimate
disposal
10) What is the mode of disposal of solid wastes generated during construction and
during operations? Are there plans to contract a NEMA licensed domestic solid waste
collector?
11) What plans are there for storm water management (e.g. drainage)?
12) What is the source of power (KPLC, Back up generators, Solar)?
13) Please include
)i land purchase agreement (e.g. tittles, allotment letter, etc)
)ii building approvals from local authority
)iii any zoning or land use particulars from the local authority
)iv cost estimates, inclusive of land cost
)v any fire protection measures
)vi any other relevant approvals
