The Ten Commandments- Part 1

"And you shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart, soul, mind, and strength. (Mark
12:30)
1. Name the first of the Ten Commandments:

You shall have no other gods before me.

2. Why do you think humanity has such a shallow understanding about

what God requires of them? (See 2 Corinthians 4:3, 4)

The god of this age (Satan) has blinded them.

"But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,
whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest
the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God,
should shine on them."

3. What do you think is the greatest sin of humanity?

Breaking the greatest commandment: Mark 12:30 - "And you

shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and
strength.

4. In what ways have you transgressed this Commandment?

Even in praising God, I'm often seeking the praise of others for
my self. I will choose to do to do other things instead of reading
the Bible.

5. Using Psalm 14 and Romans 3:10-18, list the characteristics of

human nature:

• The fool has said in his heart “There is no God."

• They are corrupt,
• They have done abominable works,
• They have all turned aside (from seeking God),
• They have together become corrupt;
• workers of iniquity with no knowledge
• They do not call on the LORD?
 • They are in great fear
• Their throat is an open tomb;
• With their tongues they have practiced deceit
• [Their] mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.
• Their feet are swift to shed blood
• Destruction and misery are in their ways
• The way of peace they have not known.
• There is no fear of God before their eyes.

6. How did Jesus demonstrate that He kept this Commandment?

By perfectly obeying the Father

7. Why should we put God first?

Besides the reason that he commands us to, because we are His

creation, made for His pleasure and glory
