Once a design has been loaded and the stitches changed to .blocks,the size of the design can be changed",

1,. Choose Modify:DimensioDs.

2. The Dimensions dialog box will appear and the design will be shown as a white ailhouette.

3. X and Y: represent the height and width in l/lOmm and call, be changed be clicking on the arrOWSQT typing the rrumberin the box.

4. Click on the Lock icon to rnairitain the ratio of the design.

5. To change the design. by a percentage instead of mm, click the left

mouse on the % box. A check mark will appear in the box .. 1000% is. default

Rlhen di"gitffiing there are now 1,0,0 additional Lines Decor Stitches (texU,i,Te) and 2'0 Special (lace appearance} stitches under the Create .Methods Complex ,Fill section. These textured fm's .can be edited under Stitch Parameters to create nUnl€r;OUS effects.

The Outline FiU digitizing meth(.d is used to plot multiple angles of tne stitches within asegn~en.t

1. Open an image to digi tize.

10. Arter all the direction lines are input dick the right mouse to end the inclination function.

It. In the lower left prompt line it states Input the first PO,IR't. CRick the left mouse where you would like the machine to start sewing this segment.

12. The lower leftprompt line now states Input the last block point.

Click the left mouse where you would like the machine to stop sewing this segmen t.

13. The segmentwill now fill with stitches.

Sc'anni.,D,g: ,~ Auto Color Reduce

Currently due to the amazing number of colors tfwt are scanned into an imof]>€ file (e.ither black and white or color) the auto trace functiot: may not he able to read all the colors and cannot: automasicailufil: uiitt: stitches. With Auto ,Color R,edu,ce the color blocksare changed to 011e color so Auto Trace will work more effectively. Although this is not specifically a photo program and is not quaranteed to 'work with all p,hotos,it does make scanning some photos and auto tracing possible.

1. Place an image in the scanrier and Glick on scan.

3. Go to Files: Twain Scanner.

2. Close the scanner dialog box.

4. Scan the image. A dialog boxwill appear stating Trali$fefflf19 Data.

5,. Then another dialog box will appear stating Load Imag,e Directly.

6. Click yes.

7. The scanned image will appear on the screen.

8" It's a good idea to save the image before continuing. Click on. FiJ.es: S,ave As"

10. Once the image has been. saved, click on Utilities;. Color Reduction ..

9. The file may be saved in any of the formats listed urider File Type.

1.1. Notice the colors in the image become more solid.

12. 'The image should now autotrace more easily.

13. To restore the image back to the original colors dick on Utilities: Undo Colo,1' Redueti.on. All colors will be restored.

Note:

The same technique can be applied to images, such as clipart and downloaded images from the Iriterriet.

Adding Color Stops,

4. Press STOP (this is a color change function)

5. The PSW program will now add a color stop between the selected block and the previous blocks.

Deleting Color Stop's

1. Click on Choices..Stitch Edit

2. Press the Horne key on yQl.!.f' computer keyboard to move to the

beginning of the design.

3. Click on the Binoculars in the top tool bar .. (This is the Move to function)

4. Click on the Stop icon in the small dialog box

5. Click on the arrow icon with the small 6 in the corner. This will move

forward through the stops. in the destgn ..

6. When you reach the stop youwiah to delete, click on the delete icon in the top tool bar"

PSW now allows you to choose Step Satin stitches to fill letters. Prior to Option .1.1~ letters would automatically he created in a Satin stitch Now you carl select step satin stitching before filling Ute letters.

1. Click on Files: N,ew .

2. In the Open dialog box choose New.

3. In the New dialog box: dick on. OK ..

4. Click on the Lettering icon, then type PSW.

5. Set the lettering height to 500;, use the Block Large font,

6. Select Step' Satin in the stitch type box,

7. Rotate the [etters to fit in the hoop.

S. Click the light mouse teo fill the stitches.

9. Note that the letters have been cr-eated in a Step Satin stitch

10. If you desire the letters can nowbeedited. Click Edit OutHne'.

11. Click Edit Lettedng. to edit the letters. The entire word \,~ti]J be in the block to edit,

.Pull compensation. extends and adds additional stitches to the edges of a. blook: to overlap or join an adjacent block: This is used to eliminate gaps or spaces between bloc.ks . .PS~V 1.1 has a new function. under Stitch Parameters that lets you type in. the compensation you would like. thus allowing you to use Autotrace lor more designs.

To Fix an. Exis.ting Design:

D'igitizi,ng ~ Create Method Cross-Stitches

PSW's new Cross Stitch digitizing tool allows you to d'uplicate a cross stitch de.sigrt a~d sew it' on your XL-1000.

Cr,eating Single Rows of Cross. Stitching using a:n Image:

L Sean or open a cross stitch design in the PSW.

2., Clickthe left mouse on the ·Cu:rrent Method icon and choose the Cross.

3. Select the cross-stitch type.

There are three cross stitch types:

Single Cross - Consists of 7 stitches (within one cross-stitcl1) Double Cross - Consists of 13 stitches (within ort<=? cross-stitch) Triple Cross - Consists of 2 J stitches (within one cross-stitchi

Digitizing' ~ Create Method, 'Cross~Stitches

Define the end point of the cross stitched row wi th a Long left mouse click in. this outside box.

13, •. If you did not end up on one of the corners of the next X you want to digitize, youmust now take a jump stitch to get to that box.

14. Click on. the Jump Function icon ~ in the left vertical tool bar, then dick on one of the corner points of the next X. Think about how you can make the jump so that it will be easy to dip the threads.

15. Click the right mouse to activate the digitizing function again.
