Circulatory System Assessment

Review Sheet
This review sheet provides an overview of the material that will be on the test. Students who are familiar with the items on this
sheet should be well prepared for the majority of questions on the assessment.

The Circulatory System Test will assess students understanding of the following benchmarks:

10.04 Knows that multi-cellular organisms have a variety of specialized cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems
that perform specialized functions (e.g., digestion, respiration, reproduction, circulation, excretion, movement,
control and coordination, protection from disease) and that the function of these systems affect one another.
(Particularly as related to the circulatory system.)

Primary Resources for Study and Information:

Science Blog (The science blog lists all of the important topics that we have covered in class)
Science Textbook (Your science textbook has more detailed information about topics covered)
Internet (Anything you can’t find in either your science blog or science textbook can be found on the internet)
Past Homework Assignments (Any homework assignments we’ve completed can be a useful source of information.)
Science Composition Book (Your science composition book is a good place to look for information about laboratories that we’ve
completed in class.)

For this exam, it will be important that you have knowledge of the following vocabulary words:
Systemic Coronary/Cardiac Pulmonary
Left Atrium Right Atrium
Circulatory System Circulatory System Circulatory System
Superior Vena
Left Ventricle Right Ventricle Septum Inferior Vena Cava
Cava
Systolic Blood Diastolic Blood
Blood pressure Red Blood Cells White Blood Cells
Pressure Pressure

Heart Valves Heart Rate Arteries Aorta Veins

Plasma Lymphocytes Capillaries Blood Type Bone Marrow

Students Should be able to Communicate the following effectively:

 How blood flows through the heart, and generally how the heart functions.
 The structure of the heart.
 General knowledge of blood types and why blood types are important.
 The structure of our circulatory system and how the major parts of it are different,
including the heart, lungs, veins, arteries, capillaries and bone marrow.
 Be able to describe relationships between the form and function of parts of the circulatory
system.
 How various parts of the circulatory system work with and/or assist one another.
