• In FY10 Utah spent $8.3 million on tobacco prevention, which is 35.3% of the CDC Annual
Spending Target.1
• The CDC estimates that 55.7 % of adult smokers in Utah tried to quit smoking in 2008.2
• Utah received $97 million in tobacco settlement payments and taxes in FY10.3
• Utah has not securitized any of its Master Settlement Agreement dollars.4

Excise Tax: There is a tax of $0.695 per pack on cigarettes. The tax on moist snuff is $0.75 per
ounce and all other tobacco products are taxed 35% of selling price.
• Only sales clerks are allowed access to tobacco products prior to sale.
