• Legacy has awarded $1,965,646.76 in grants to projects in Oregon.

Tobacco Usage

• In FY2010 Oregon spent $7.7 million on tobacco prevention, which is 17.9% of the CDC
Annual Spending Target.1

• The CDC estimates that 46.8 % of adult smokers in Oregon tried to quit smoking in 2008.2

• Oregon received $319 million in tobacco settlement payments and taxes in FY10.3

• Oregon has not securitized any of its Master Settlement Agreement dollars.4

State Tobacco Laws9

Excise Tax: There is a tax of $1.18 per pack on cigarettes.

Clean Indoor Air Ordinances


• Smoking is prohibited in all schools, public places, places of employment (including child
care centers, private places of employment and government buildings), restaurants and
bars.

Youth Access Laws


• The minimum age requirement for the purchase of tobacco products is 18, and penalties
exist for both minors and merchants who violate this law.

• Establishments are required to post signs stating that sales to minors are prohibited.

• Only sales clerk is allowed access to tobacco product prior to sale.

• The sale of bidis to minors is prohibited.
