FACE OF ACES GETS PRESIDENTIAL AWARD

Ms. Jayalakshmi Balasubramanian, Inspector of Customs and Central Excise,


Hyderabad II Commissionerate (now on deputation to Directorate of Revenue
Intelligence, Hyderabad) has been selected for award of Appreciation
Certificate by the President of India (Presidential Award) for Specially
Distinguished Record of Service on the Occasion of Republic Day, 2011. She
is the first lady officer in Hyderabad Zone to get the Presidential Award.

Ms. Jayalakshmi has joined the Department as Inspector in 1994 (1994


batch) and is involved in the computerization of the Department from the
first year of her service has been working on various aspects of
computerization. She has worked at Chief Commissioner’s Office in
Hyderabad, K Division, EDI incharge (AirCargo) and Computers(Hyd –II).
Throughout her service, Ms. Jayalakshmi has been very actively involved in
the automation of the department and training of the officers both at the
Zonal level and the national level. She has worked for two stints in
Directorate of Systems, Chennai.

M/s Jayalakshmi was involved in testing the ACES Application and has
travelled across the country and was actively involved in training of more
than 500 ACES trainers and field officers and she has become the virtual face
of ACES and the Chairman, CBEC has personally commended her exceptional
contribution to ACES Project and she has been selected as a member of the
ACES National Resource Group who would advice the Directorate of Systems
on popularizing ACES Application and training the officers at National level.

In the past, Ms. Jayalakshmi Balasubramanian has received the CBEC


Samman Patra for her contribution to data management, SERMON and
SACER Applications on the occasion of the Central Excise Day, 2000 and
received Samman Award from the Chief Commissioner of the Zone for her
commendable and dedicated work on computerization and training officers
in the year 1998 -1999.
