Year : 2 Amanah

Subject: Mathematics

Time : 8.00 am – 9.00 am

Topic : Multiplication

Learning Area : Multiplication within 2, 3, 4 and 5

Objectives : Pupils will be taught to:

i) Write repeated addition according to concrete materials.


ii) Write mathematical sentence from repeated addition to multiplication sentence.
iii) Answer all questions correctly that given in worksheet.

Learning outcomes: Pupils will be able to:

i) Recognise multiplication as repeated addition.


ii) Write number sentences for multiplication.

Pre-requisite: Addition and know how to add numbers.

Stages Content Procedure / Activities Note / Remarks
Set Induction Multiplication as Teacher call eight pupils in front of the class. Teacher ask the pupils
repeated addition form four groups, 2 pupils in each group.

Instructions:

2 pupils in group hold your hand to each other.

Class, look at your friends in front. How many groups are there?

How many pupils in each group?

Try to add them altogether. How your count to get the answer eight?

2+2+2+2=8

Multiplication is the process of repeated addition. Repeated addition


is a longer process compared to multiplication.

Step 1 Change the repeated Teacher tell the student that the repeated addition sentence is too
addition mathematical long. So that, the multiplication sentence can change the repeated
sentence to addition mathematical sentence. Then, teacher write the repeated
multiplication addition mathematical sentence once more,

Teacher ask the pupils how many times the number 2 was repeated?

Pupils will answer , 4 times.

Then , teacher explain the multiplication sentence can write be like


this 4 x 2 = 8

Teacher ask 2- 4 pupils to change the repeated addition to


multiplication mathematical sentence :
