FEARLESS CONFIDENCE by Jerry Kato

When you read the bible, there are countless stories that illustrate the Fearless Confidence that
we have access to through the Holy Spirit working within us. Whether it was Davd standing up to
Goliath in battle, or Joshua and his armies marching around walls of Jericho, it was Fearless Con-
fidence that accompanied them.

Another one of these inspirational stories is found in Acts 4, where Peter & John found themselves
arrested for proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus Christ to the people in Jerusalem. The bible tells
us that after they were released from prison, they gathered with their friends prayed the following
prayer:
“‘...give your servants fearless confidence in preaching your Message, as you stretch out your
hand to us in healings and miracles and wonders done in the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
While they were praying, the place where they were meeting trembled and shook. They were all
filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak God’s Word with fearless confidence.”
- Acts 4:29-31

What I love about this story is that the very first thing Peter & John did after their release was, they
gathered with their friends and prayed to God to give them Fearless Confidence to continue to
preach his message.
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, “my speech and my message were not in plausible words of
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith might not rest in the wis-
dom of men but in the power of God.”

I’ve found that sometimes we can worry too much about what we are supposed to say when it
comes to sharing our faith and making a stand, when the truth is, what gives weight to what we
say is the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

What we can learn from Peter & John is that makin a stand for Christ in our world isn’t some-
thing that we should feel like we need to do alone. For Peter & John, it started with gathering with
friends to pray and finished with standing together in Fearless Confidence

My Encouragement to everyone is that we’d follow the example of gathering and praying:

Gather with your connect, RDG or friends and pray to God for his Fearless Confidence to rest
upon us, as we all take His message forward in the different spheres of our lives.
