Gauge
The gauge is basically a preview of your project. Its a small knitted square using the needles and type
of yarn that the patterns calls for.

-Every knitter knits differently even if they are using the same needles and yarn as the pattern, the
measurements might be a bit off.

To Begin
1. Using the needles and yarn the pattern calls for cast on about 15-20 stitches.
2. Knit until your piece measures about 4 inches. ( the swatch must be knitted in the
pattern called for)
3. Take the stitches of the needle and place the swatch on a smooth surface.
4. Take a measuring tape or ruler and measure the number of stitches across the 4inches of
knitting. Measure vertically and horizontally
5. Check your numbers with the pattern, if the pattern says 20 stitches to 4 inches and you
have more, redo your swatch with bigger needles.
6. If you have less than the number required use smaller needles and redo the swatch
7. Try to get as close to the numbers in the pattern as possible.
8. Once you have it as close as possible you can start your project
` BUT WAIT!!!!
keep checking your gauge threw out your project and if it changes drastically you
will have to unravel it and start again =(
But just keep thinking of how fitted your sweater will XD
DONT SKIP THE GAUGE!!!! ITS A VERY IMPORTANT PART!!
